Enquiries, suggestions or complaints

Enquiries, suggestions or complaints regarding any communication services should be referred to relevant Station Communication Officer at each international airport or to the Chairman, Civil Aviation Authority as appropriate.

 

  1. Area of responsibility

Communication Services as indicated in the following paragraphs are provided for the entire territory including territorial water of Bangladesh as well as in the airspace over the deep seas encompassed by Dhaka FIR.

  1. Types of services

Radio Navigation Services

 

- LF/MF Non-Directional Beacons (NDB),
- Primary and Secondary Surveillance Radar,
- VHF Omni-directional Radio Range (DVOR/CVOR),
- Distance Measuring Equipment (DME),
- Instrument Landing System (ILS).

Aeronautical Mobile Service

- Major World Air Route Area (MWARA)
- Regional and Domestic Air route Area (RDARA)

The Aeronautical Stations maintain a continuous watch on the stated frequencies during the published hours of service unless otherwise notified.

An aircraft should normally communicate with the air ground control radio station that exercises control in the area in which the aircraft is flying. Aircraft should maintain a continuous watch on the appropriate frequency of the control station and should not abandon watch, except in an emergency, without informing the control radio station.

Aeronautical Fixed Service

The main AFTN (Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network) Centre is located at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and is equipped with an Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS). It is connected internally with 12 terminals and externally as per following configurations:

Dhaka - Bangkok VSAT link;
Dhaka -Kolkata DDN link;
Dhaka - Chittagong Microwave LTT ( Landline Tele Type);
HSIA - CAAB HQ LTT

The messages to be transmitted over the Aeronautical Fixes Service (AFS) are accepted only if:

- they satisfy the requirements of ICAO Annex 10, Vol II, Chapter 3,3.3;
- they are prepared in the form specified in ICAO Annex 10;
- the text of individual message does not exceed 1800 characters.

Broadcasting Service

VHF Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS) is provided at HSIA, Dhaka and SAIA, Chittagong.
